How do I unsubscribe a customer from bulk SMS?

If a customer replies to a Bulk SMS or contacts you asking to be unsubscribed, you are obliged under the SPAM Act to no longer send them messages.

Find ALL occurrences of the number

Customers mobile phone numbers are stored in a standardised format in the MSISDN field, and this is the field you should search on to make sure you find ALL Customer records for a given mobile number.

The MSISDN number is just the number in international format with no spaces or punctuations.  For example the Australian mobile number 0444 555 666 would have and MSISDN of 61444555666.

You don't necessarily need to put in the country code, you can just use the "*" wild card.
E.g. *444555666

Change the Bulk SMS Preference

For each Customer record found...

1. Edit the Customer record.
2. Go to the Preferences tab.
3. Make sure the Bulk SMS check box is unchecked.
4. Save the record.
