What is the Customer Referral Report?

The Customer Referral Summary Report provides you with a summary of customer referral sources on a month-by-month basis.

Recording and analysing referral sources can be a very useful way for a business to determine where most of its new customers are coming from, to develop strategies to increase business.

Recording the Referral Source

The report is only as good as the data it contains.  If you want to use the Customer Referral Summary Report, then the first step is to  make sure that you accurately record the Source field in the Customer record.

If your new customers fill in a form, such as an intake form, it is a good idea to ask them where they heard about your business.  You can then record this information in their customer record.

Running the Report

To run the Customer Referral Summary Report...

  1. Log in to BizDiary as an admin or manager level user.
  2. Go to Reports > Run Report.
  3. Select Custs: Referral Summary.
  4. Choose a defined Range OR Enter the From date and To date
You can also leave the dates blank to get ALL Customers.
  5. Go to the Output tab, and change the options as needed.
The Hide rows with 0 referrals? is a useful option to reduce the length of the report.
  6. Click [Run].
  7. The report opens as a PDF which you can Save or Print.

Notes

Customer records track the date the record was created (as well as updated).  It is this creation date that is used when grouping the referrals together for this report.  For example, March 2012 will contain all customers whose records were added to BizDiary in March 2012.
